Suddenly

23 Apr

Suddenly, there’s an opportunity to talk about Christ.

Opportunities comes so randomly and unexpectedly.

How to truly show Christ and present Christ without destroying the relationship that could yield even more opportunities.

Some folks would jerk out a tract and rattle off the Romans Road within 30 seconds.

Suffice to say, that doesn’t work for me and probably never will.

Suddenly.  Am I in tune with the Holy Spirit enough to know that this opportunity was there?  Am I wise enough to tell the truth gently?  Is the message of Christ truly on the tip of my tongue?  Am I afraid of offending or am I truly concerned about the person?

Suddenly, there’s a lot to think about.

Are we there?

You’re in a boat a lot of people are in. I wasn’t always just willing to strike up a conversation about Christ. It was one reason I wrote the evangelism study I wrote for GV. Of all the evangelism studies I looked at and have taken, most are tailored for large churches AND those who are comfortable sharing their faith ALREADY. I believe faith in Christ is best shared relationally; through relationships, not intentional encounters. Though I am comfortable with either, I understand most people aren’t, so I wrote with that premise in mind–to enable those who don;’t do it well a sound, biblical model for sharing their faith consistently and compassionately.
