Theology

I wish “theology” didn’t have such a bad name among Christians. There seems to be an overwhelming frustration among mega-church leaders in regard to folks who study theology.Theology is often accused of terrible things. Many Christians seem to think that those who enjoy the study of God are useless to the kingdom, and that theologians are counterproductive to evangelism.
Wow.
I believe this to be incredibly unfortunate, and I believe it to be extremely inappropriate for Christian leaders to discourage the study of theology among laypersons.
As usual, Michael Patton has an incredibly appropriate article along these lines… I actually began this post before I read his, believe it or not.
Every Christian should study theology to some extent. Some of us enjoy the study more than others. That doesn’t make them “better” Christians, but neither does theological ignorance or apathy.
