Friday Thawts

20 Nov

There was once a time that I had a Friday “regular” post, called Friday Thawts.  I also did “Monday Mawnings”, which was usually a reflection on the weekend’s events.

As of now, I officially resurrect those days.

Today’s thawts…

  • The freakin’ UNC Tar Heels have got their work cut out for them against Syracuse tonight.  Ohio State knocked on the door hard last night, but the Orangemen will BRING IT.  That junk basketball the boys in blue have been playing won’t cut it tonight.  I’m afraid we’ll lose by 10.  Cross your fingers that I’m wrong.
  • Green Bay Packers vs. San Fancisco 49ers – Of course I want the Pack to win.  I know they CAN.  Whether they actually show up or not is another question.  Pack by 3.
  • Nascar – Grrrrr.  I hate racing.
  • Crossroads is voting on a new pastor this week.  I’m looking forward to God doing amazing things.
  • Crossroads is giving away free Christmas portraits to non-members in the community.  I love it.
  • Got some news this morning that Precision Products may get really busy in the next few months.  Praise God for that!
  • I don’t like it when my kids are sick.
  • I need to get back on my exercise program.

Packers 17, Cowboys 7

16 Nov

I’m sorry, but that’s just a GOOD score!  Way to go Packers!

Since the Browns have so far held the Ravens scoreless, I’m sure that they are going to destroy all the odds and hand Baltimore a loss.  Of course, that’s how it has to be – I’ve picked the Ravens to win in my weekly “bet” with my buddy at work….

North Carolina Central 42, North Carolina 89

12 Nov

So, the Tar Heels make it to 2-0.  Well, sorta, depending on one’s perception of these exhibition games with weak opponents.

It does appear that Roy Williams is experimenting, and that he’s trying a lot of combinations to see what results in wins.

After all, a two point win is as good as 30, except for the demoralizing effect on opponents.

They should have easily scored 100 here, but good sense prevailed.  Marcus Ginyard still tied his career high, and he’s looking good in general.

Tar Heels Roster

11 Nov

In my newly determined role of being a true Tar Heel fan, I wonder if I can memorize the roster and the schedule???

Excluding all that “Hometown” junk.  Of course, a really encyclopedic Woody Durham type would KNOW all that, too.

Hmmmmm.

Tar Heel tip-off

11 Nov

It’s firmly embedded in my mind that I’m a real Tar Heel basketball fan now that I’ve spent the requisite 12.99 to obtain my own personal copy of this.

The good news is that there are tons of things included that I don’t know of ANY other way to find.  Perhaps all the stats are available somewhere on the web, but a minute-by-minute description of the 2009 title game is sure a hard thing to find.
