Casper

27 Jan

Casper is a bully.  An indescribably persistent bully with no morals or concerns for his victims.

Yet, Casper is a victim.  A victim of his nature.  He cannot escape it.  He desires to dominate and force others to run to escape him.

Casper is much like a man without Christ.

Romans 8:7 – Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

Fish Tank

13 Jan

Our children now share ownership of the same aquarium that I once received for a birthday present.

I think.

Regardless, due to birthdays and kind generosity from my parents, there will soon be fish in the Shuford household.  T and K will oogle and ogle, and Karma will take pictures.

Fish tank will become dirty, and all will watch while Bernard cleans said fish tank.

Joy will resume.

The cycle of life.

K wants a castle and a pink fish.  Not sure if T wants a pirate ship or buried treasure.

I’m thankful for…

Cool Things

21 Nov

There are really all kinds of cool things going on in my life, if I would just sit down and think it through.  I’m a very lucky and extremely blessed man.  I owe God a big apology for all my complaining.

That’s not to say that I’ll never complain again, but it won’t be any more “right” then than it is now.

Bethel football and basketball.

Crossroads Baptist Church.

Precision Products.

Mom and Dad.

Good friends.

My guitar.

Any piano.

The Blackberry.  The iPod.  The ThinkPad that runs Ubuntu.  Two digital cameras.  (K told me tonight “I wish I was YOU, so I could have all your STUFF!”  She was amazed at the quantity of camera lenses, flashes, and bags, but it still was a shocking alert about how much “stuff” I do have.  Quite a thought to ponder.)

A bunch of Bibles.  The Bible on the Web.

Somehow I always find a way to want more.

I want to find contentment in Christ and be really, really, really CONTENT with what I have.  Or even less.

A List

30 Oct

Karma likes to make lists.

I think I do, too.

I also like to blog, but sometimes I just have a bunch of LITTLE things to say, rather than a big blog.

  1. I find it humorous that my “favorite sport” is whichever one Travis happens to be playing currently.
  2. I consider my short term obsession tendency to be stupid and ridiculous.
  3. I’m scared of a lot more things since I fell off the skateboard than I was before.
  4. Getting off the ladder and onto the roof to retrieve the satellite receiver equipment was proof of #3.
  5. I miss feeling creative.  I have no idea what died, but something has.
  6. I’d love to write something.  But everything feels too serious.
  7. This blog still doesn’t have to seem a real purpose, but I’m trying.
  8. Hannah Montana is cool.
  9. Barney is NOT cool, but my daughter loves him, so he gets a pass.  For about another year.
  10. The Packers don’t have a chance, but I still hope they steamroll Brent Traitor. Actually, maybe they have a chance.
  11. I think one of the problems I have with writing is that I’m too stinking indecisive to commit to a topic.
  12. I don’t like that about myself.  For crying out loud, it’s a wonder I am able to pick a gallon of milk out of the endless choices at Ingles.

I could write more, but anyway.
